We often get asked at Forte Training Company about what is the Value of Coaching, what happens in our coaching sessions and what benefits can one expect as a result of being coached?

That is why we asked one of our coachees, Zen Halimana of Zen Mindset to write a short account of his experience of being coached by Forte Training Company.

This is what he said:

Zen Halimana is a an Emotional Resilience Coach at Zen Mindset

I recently had the privilege of being coached by Magdalena Gabriah of Forte Training Company. Our session was focused on how to translate your vision into action.

A huge takeaway I received was the beauty of looking at things not purely from a logical perspective, but also from an emotional one. It’s so easy to get into our heads when setting intentions, but what sets us on fire is getting into our hearts. I’ll admit that this can feel uncomfortable, especially if you’re an analytical person like me. But at the end of the day do you want comfort, or do you want growth? When we set a goal or intention from our heart we paint a bright picture of the future that makes us most feel alive. From this place we can set goals that not only energize us to take action every day, but also allow us to enjoy the process of reaching our goals.

Another interesting insight I received is the value of asking the question beyond the surface question and being willing to go deeper.  So often we usually go with our first insight but that does not always mean that it’s the best one. Magdalena challenges you to go deeper, and she does this with grace and care – holding a safe space for you to do the deep inner work.

It’s easy to ask other people questions that can help them and guide them – it’s more challenging to be equally objective with ourselves. It’s no different from having an exercise plan we’re following. We follow it to the best of our ability. And hopefully, make some progress. But how do we deal with the inevitable setbacks and plateaus?

It’s different having a coach right there with you. They can tailor the plan towards your specific needs, give you immediate feedback and encouragement when you need it. They can help you navigate the inevitable roadblocks. And challenge you to go further than you think you can.

We all know how to set goals and make plans. The value of the session was not the act of setting goals. Anyone can do that. The value is in the guided implementation, feedback, and accountability. Not in answering the questions ‘what’ or ‘how?’, but in answering the question ‘why?’ That is invaluable.
